About

Through 10 years in engineering, I have delivered 8 major infrastructure projects including 6 level crossing projects. I bring a wealth of civil infrastructure knowledge across a broad range of scopes, with bridge construction as a particular strong suite. Logistics, contracting strategy and innovation are three underpinning components of engineering I enjoy and thrive at.

My performance is proven through career history of scope delivered and responsibilities undertaken. As someone determined to become a project manager, I understand and show leadership qualities and a strong emphasis on core project deliverables in cost, program, safety and quality. I embrace the responsibility, accountability, pressure and workload that comes with a senior construction role.

On the back of a strong commercial performance assisting with Glen Huntly LX close out, the business requested assistance in the project controls space for Kananook. Working closely with the project manager, alliance finance manager and wider project team I have been tasked with improving project controls to enable accurate project forecasting and decision making.

Key achievements include assisting in reduced project forecast at completion position by $12m from May to December.

Key tasks:

  • Preparing financial reporting documentation and presentations including forecast sheets, cost statements, cost to date report, project health report, risk register
  • Monitor budget and monthly expense, providing regular updates on project status to assist Project team in decision-making
  • Prepare upstream project progress claims, adjustment events
  • Assist project team in subcontractor progress claim assessment, pricing schedule development, tender evaluation, contractor change assessment, and contract financial closeout

Champion & Maddox Level Crossing Removal Project Tender • Program Alliance • LXRA • $300m | Feb 2024 – May 2024

Structures Lead

As the structures lead for the bid, provided expertise to put forward a sound construction solution, that also presents as an optimised value for money proposal for the state. The project is unique as a heavy brown fields site with 11 high pressure fuel pipes running parallel with the existing alignment and two different rail operators in MTM and ARTC.

Key Items

  • Estimate, resource, program and methodology build up from scratch for all components of triple rail viaduct and pedestrian bridge
  • Presenting bid updates to client and internal business
  • Innovative solutions such as bespoke heavy lifting solutions to drive down cost without increasing risk or reducing margi
  • Liaise with fuel pipe licensees (Exxon mobile, VIVA and APA) to understand their requirements, risk appetite and the projects rights under legislation around fuel assets in condensed tender duration to develop a sound construction methodology

Glen Huntly Level Crossing Removal Project • Program Alliance • LXRA • $600m | Feb 2023 – Feb 2024

Post occupation along with overseeing carparks and hard landscaping works, I have championed the commercial close out phase. This portion of the role is centered around stabilising the projects financial position through subcontractor negotiations, financial analysis and presentations to Alliance Leadership Team and assisting build adjustment events. Delivered over a 59 day June/July occupation, the key scope metrics;

  • $62m scope
  • 27 segment, 21,000m3 tanking slab
  • Complete Neerim Rd bridge (piles, abutments, 16 no. super T, 2 stage bridge deck, barriers) in 25 day closure
  • Glen Huntly 9no. Steel Girder Tram Bridge
  • Glen Huntly 15no. Super T elevated Station concourse

- Landscaping
- Carparks
- Site Demob

Preston Level Crossing has been the most challenging project of my career. Throughout the project, I have embraced continued new scope allocated to me, typically on critical path or requiring significant engineering power. This has led to management of $40m worth of work delivered over a dozen different scopes and 20 contracts with 8-12 direct reports. I was on the early stages of the project post award and involved in design development and site set up. During this planning and design phase, a highlight has been developing the hardstand to permanent works optimisation, contamination & material reuse strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Successful delivery of scope meeting financial, safety, program and quality KPIs
  • Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders
  • Preparation of construction budget and preparation of forecast reports

Key Achievements & Highlights
