Project Engineer

Pomerleau, whose revenues reached more than $4.4 billion in 2022, is one of the largest construction companies in Canada. It specializes in the building, infrastructure and civil engineering sectors, and carries out large projects using alternative methods.

Annacis Island WWTP New Outfall Project – Wastewater – $250m Mar 2024 – Aug 2024

  • This project consists of the construction of a new outfall pipe via TBM methodology as well as two shafts approx. 45m deep and various other structures to increase plant capacity. It is one of several upgrades Metro Vancouver is undertaking that will allow the plant to meet the needs of a growing population, climate change, public health and environment and resistance in the event of an earthquake.
  • Crew management and co-ordination for construction of various site elements, typically reinforced concrete elements.
  • Cost management and scheduling for site works including remediation of large RC Wall pour.
  • H&S and Quality management of construction activities as well as site implementation of these.
  • Person in charge on large 1600m2 slipform pour to form permanent shaft wall lining.
  • Design of slipform rebar lifting rig, lift plan and anchor layout for outfall shaft roof slabs.

Stanley Park Water Supply Tunnel Bid – Water – $250m Nov 2023 – Mar 2024

  • The new Stanley Park water supply tunnel will replace an existing water main that was built in the 1930s and is at the end of its service life.
  • Carried out a pipe insertion method analysis, shaft sizing for 2.6m diameter steel pipe minimize construction cycle time.
  • Drawing of various construction methodologies including slip line insertion, valve chamber construction sequencing and shaft construction.
  • Quantity estimates for additional steel pipe support systems and temporary works.

Surrey Langley Skytrain Guideway & Station Bid – Transportation – $2bn Mar 2023– Nov 2023

  • The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometres primarily along Fraser Highway on an elevated guideway from King George SkyTrain Station in Surrey to 203 Street in Langley City. It includes eight stations and three transit exchanges.
  • Carried out a complete design and costing of a new precast yard and relevant equipment to produce the guideway segments. Time – motion study of precast yard operations to produce an efficient layout and to size equipment appropriately. Co-ordination of precast yard design
    with design, estimation, electrical, mechanical and external teams.
  • Development of project technical submission, production of drawings, sequences, schedules etc.

ARUP, Galway | Sept 2021 – March 2023

Design Engineer

The ARUP Galway office, set up in 2008, is home to infrastructure, digital and buildings specialists who work with national and international clients. Example: Offered structural design, MEP and fire consultancy services to the National Velodrome and Badminton Centre Ireland which is the first indoo velodrome in Ireland.

National Velodrome and Badminton Centre, Dublin Ireland – Sports/Recreation – $100m

  • The objective of the National Velodrome and Badminton Centre project is to contribute to the success of high-performance programmes and to increased participation in both track cycling and badminton, with positive impacts for both national pride and social well-being, by providing high quality indoor facilities.
  • Performed all structural design calculations relevant to a 20m tall Velodrome steel structure with a floor area of 8000sqm. Carried out analysis and detailed design of all structural steelwork using Tekla Structural Designer 2022. Conducted analysis of wind loading and lateral stability of the main structure. Timber stud and member design as well as the design of the pad and strip foundations for the substructure. Concealed splice connection design between 73m truss spans using Idea Statica. Design of all composite flooring and roofdek membranes.

Diageo – Guinness Brewery Dublin, Ireland – Commercial – $Continuous Sept 2021 – Jan 2022

  • St. James's Gate Brewery is a brewery founded in 1759 in Dublin, Ireland, by Arthur Guinness. The company is now a part of Diageo. The main product of the brewery is Draught Guinness.
  • Design of structural steel for new pipe rack using Tekla Structural Designer. Civils drawing for new process line using AutoCAD. Review of existing structure, pile loadings and analysing capabilities for adding additional stories on a process building in the brewery. Scheme design for minor extensions to brewery buildings.
