These works included placing 66 number of precast stormwater tanks, construction of two post and panel retaining walls, installation of 850 lm of drainage lines and pits, grading the site to suit the new levels and installation of kerb, asphalt and line marking to suit.

Paul’s role was to manage the onsite works and coordinate the staging and onsite issues with the subcontractor. Paul would also step into an SPE role when the lead for these works were away to report on programing and forecasting.

Squared – Parkdale Screen Install | Southern Program Alliance

Senior Project Engineer – April 2024 – August 2024

Working directly for Squared, Paul was a Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager leading the fabrication, delivery, offsite and onsite assembly of 5 signal platforms and
540 lm of architectural screens and frames. These works were required to be accelerated due to the clients program being delayed, resulting in the program shifting from days only to day and night shift. Paul was responsible for also managing the forecast, budget, program and leading a Site Engineer to assist in the works.

Squared – Newport TOC Submission | Southern Program Alliance

Senior Project Engineer – February 2024 – April 2024

Paul was contracted to provide his insight on the staging and tender review in the TOC submission the Newport LXRP for Southern Program Alliance. It was here that Paul was able to use his extensive skills in 3D modelling to work through staging the access into site with Gas and Fuel Authorities. Paul also aided in some pricing checks and reviews for the structures part of the works.

Squared – MURL Upgrade – East and West Ventilation Shaft Supply and Install and Melbourne Central Fire Glazing Works | Southern Program Alliance

Senior Project Engineer – February 2023 – December 2023

As part of the state government funded MURL upgrades, this project looks to deliver several upgrades to the city loop including modern smoke detection, extraction, and sprinkler systems at Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament.

Paul’s role was a Senior Project engineer looking after the supply and install for both the East and West Ventilation shafts from start to finish. This involves liaising with designers to get the design approved with multiple stakeholders, liaising with drafters to get the design to IFC, liaising with suppliers to get the structure fabricated and pre assembled and liaising with subcontractors to aid in the installation and cladding of the structure.

Paul’s role was later extended to also manage the night shift scope of works for 6 months to upgrade the fire glazing within Melbourne Central Station during ALBF. This involved ensuring quality compliance for the complex fire rated systems, tracking and monitoring works onsite, liaising with subcontractors and stakeholders regarding the works and resolving a number of complex issues that were identified during construction.

Squared – MURL Upgrade – Parliament Structural Steel Supply and Install | Southern Program Alliance

Senior Project Engineer | December 2022 – February 2023

As part of the state government funded MURL upgrades, this project looks to deliver several upgrades to the city loop including modern smoke detection, extraction, and sprinkler systems at Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament.

Paul’s role was a Senior Project Engineer looking after the supply and install of 120T of structural steel in the ventilation shaft of Parliament Station. This was a very complex job as it required fabrication of steel in a very short time frame and installed in a tight space with live trains running in proximity to the works. Some steel was installed off rope access and through the use of a monorail and winch setup.

Squared – Pakenham Level Crossing Removal – Major Piling Scope | John Holland

Project Engineer | April 2022 – November 2022

The Pakenham Level Crossing Removal project was one of the many level crossings that the Victorian State Government elected to be removed to reduce congestion and increase safety on the roads.

Paul was the project lead of all the major piling scope on the job. This included leading a team of two to deliver the scope, liaising with the contractor to get a contract agreed to, providing technical support to the site team, completing forecasting, assessing contractors’ monthly claims and planning with multiple teams to deliver a best for project outcome.

Symal Group – Heatherton Rd and Hallam North Rd Upgrade | MRPV

Project Lead | May 2021 – April 2022

Addition of an extra lane between Heatherton Road and James Cook Drive, upgrading intersections and building new walking and cycling paths. This is completed by 11 retaining walls to allow the road extent to be widened as needed to provide more lanes for cars to get home safely. The upgrade will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow and safety. It’ll also enhance connections between the south-eastern growth suburbs to the Monash Freeway.

Paul’s role on this project was the Project Lead in managing the Structures scope on the job. This included managing up to 11 active work fronts over an 8-month period of approximately $25 M in scope. Paul completed all forecasting and budgeting required within this scope and mentored junior engineers to transition into site engineers.

Symal Group – Victoria Big Battery | UGL

Project Engineer - January 2021 – May 2021

The Victorian Big Battery is one of the world’s biggest batteries, leading the way in providing support services at scale to the grid. The construction of it will support Victoria’s transmission network, helping to reduce costs for energy consumers through enabling more wind and solar, allowing more power to flow into
the state and helping to avoid blackouts and the associated costs.

Paul’s role on this project was a Project Engineer in managing Symal’s scope of works. Symal’s scope of works was to grade the existing terrain and build to FSL. Symal also were contracted to construct the footings for the battery’s and construct some other footings for buildings onsite.

Acciona Geotech – Bell to Moreland LXR | John Holland

Project Engineer - September 2020 - December 2020

The Bell to Moreland Level Crossing removal is one of the 12 crossing the State Government has elected needs to be removed to reduce congestion and improve safety on the roads. Acciona Geotech was elected to complete all the piling works to relocate the rail corridor over 4 major streets via an overpass. This was a complex project as the piles were located over 2.5 km which required to bring 6 drilling rigs in to drill and install 270 + piles which were completed within 3 weeks.

Paul’s responsibilities were to support and help with the organization and planning for the sequencing of the number of pile rigs and different workstations. He also had a big focus on QA to ensure everything was closed out.

Paul lead a team of 3 Site Engineers on a rotating roster between day, afternoon, and night shift.

The shotcrete walls scope was valued at $3.5 million dollars and required a mixture of shotcrete and fibrecrete, totalling approximately 7,500 m2 of concrete sprayed over the course of 4 weeks This was one of the more challenging projects for Paul due to the complexity of the scope, the speed at which the project progressed and working amongst many different disciplines at the same time. Paul was the project engineer for shotcrete and lead 3 site engineers as part of the Structures team.
