Waurn Ponds Duplication Project (WPD) is a part of the wider Regional Rail Revival (RRR) tasked with delivering an upgrade of the Geelong to Waurn Ponds corridor.

Project consists of 7km of new track and 6km of upgraded track, along with two Rail over Road grade separations consisting of a retaining soil structure systems and Super-T girders, U-throughs and a 47.8m Steel Through Girder, 2 new station buildings and platform duplications, as well as a full signalling system, level and pedestrian crossing upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Petar focused heavily on Track, Civil and CSR, as the nominal Interface Team’s SME on those items, along with a supporting role for the wider Structures scope.
  • Responsible for governance and oversight of the scopes listed above, ensuring they are delivered within the framework of V/Line’s Standards and wider safety management system.
  • Principal liaison between the construction team and occupation management team for scopes within my purview, including review of WGIT’s and Programme for individual shut-downs
  • Responsible for review of Quality documentation as well as being the nominated representative for QA sign-off requirements
  • Responsible for liaising with Engineering on technical queries and RFI’s raised by the construction team
  • Part of a team tasked with Design Review ensuring various packages are in-line with the ARO standards

Western Program Alliance is a project tasked by the Victorian Government and LXRP (Level Crossing Removal Project) to deliver various solutions to Melbourne's
existing Level Crossing issue.

The current Major project is the Cranbourne Line Upgrade consisting of 8km of line duplication, one Bridge and two Rail over Road solutions. Minor Projects with various solutions, Rail over Road or Road over Rail, include Werribee Street, Cherry Street, Old Geelong Road and Aviation Road, and Dandenong Rationalisation Package and PRSN.

Responsibilities

  • Part of the team developing and implementing WPA's Construction Execution Procedure and all accompanying documents such as ITPs and SWMSs;
  • Responsible for forecasting and accruals as part of the track scope, CHS and CLU;
  • Responsible for the staging of works, occupation coordination and procurement for the track team;
  • Part of a small team tasked with coordinating Dandenong Yard investigative works as part of the requirement for the development and finalisation of the design package;
  • One of three engineers involved in safeworking input and implementation for CLU and DNG works;
  • Responsible for Liaising and Interface between WPA and MTM infrastructure/PTDT;
  • Responsible for overseeing compliance to all MTM track standards and procedures;

Manangatang Maintenance Project was tasked with replacing 56,000 broad gauge timber sleepers, regauging 26,000 sleepers within 90km of track. Delivery and discharge of 32,000 tonnes of ballast, Tamping and regulating 90km of track. Repair and upgrade of 48 level crossing (asphalt, public and private).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of V/line quality management plans, rail safety and environmental documentation;
  • Part of the team tasked with reviewing contractor's QMPs, CMP, rail safety and environmental;
  • Responsible for overseeing compliance to all with all V/line standards and procedures;
  • Responsible for the development of project-specific and review of contractor's inspection and test plans.
  • Quality control and defect rectification;
  • Reviewing the projects (contractor's and V/line asset management teams) performance in line with the programme cost;
  • Responsible for recording and reviewing all technical documents required for track hand back and project completion;
  • Detailed daily de-brief and planning with all the supervisors; and

Petar oversaw the tender to complete a new track spanning over 200km, which posed several logistical issues for correction. In addition, the client requested several case studies.

Responsibilities

  • He worked in a team responsible for creating the construction management plan and the logistics necessary to facilitate its completion;
  • Petar developed the rail safety plan, the movements of all work parties, RRV and Trains within the worksite;
  • Worked as a part of the estimating team to ensure the feasibility of the methodology put forth for the project; and
  • Responsible for sourcing and verification of prices for the plant and labour from various vendors.
