Working with the team at Agonis, often engaged to support clients in delivery across remote and regional project throughout Australia.

REGIONAL VICTORIA | LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR

V/Line | May 2023 – September 2023

Due to Peter’s knowledge of Regional Victoria, he was seconded to V/Line to fulfil a short-term role to deliver material for the Tie Renewal Gang between Bendigo to Swan Hill and Geelong to Camperdown. The role was also responsible for determining locations that allowed access to heavy vehicles and working within environmental footprints.

CITY RAIL LINK | CONSTRUCTION MANAGER TRACK AND OLE

Martinus Rail NZ | July 2022 – April 2023

Martinus Rail New Zealand approached Agonis for Peter’s services to fill the Construction Manager role for Track & OLE. The position is responsible for the coordination of construction activities between the Client (Link Alliance – LKA) and Martinus for both NAL (Ballasted Track) and the Tunnel construction (Concrete Slab Track).

COUNTRY RAIL NETWORK | CIVIL &TRACK REFURBISHMENTS | SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER

CRN | January 2019 – June 2022

John Holland approached Agonis for the services of Peter to assist and lead the planning and execution of track and civil refurbishment works. Based in Dubbo, Peter led a team of engineers for a series of Possession works to September 2021. Since then, he has been engaged to oversee the construction of a Road Over Rail Bridge and associated road and civil works at Mittagong. Part of Peter’s role was to mentor several Graduate Engineers in the art of Construction Management.

MERNDA RAIL EXTENSION | SENIOR COMPLETIONS ENGINEER

Agonis Group | LXRP | 2018

The Project consisted of three new stations and an extension of the railway from South Morang to Mernda. LXRP approached Peter to assist with completions associated with an accelerated program and hand-over to the operator – MTM. As a result, the Project was completed and commissioned one month ahead of schedule.

MELBOURNE METRO EARLY WORKS| SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Agonis Group | John Holland | 2017 – 2018

John Holland approached Agonis Group to assist with planning Occupation Works associated with the Domain interchange, requiring the relocation of the existing light rail to facilitate the construction of the new Domain underground rail station. Peter was retained after the Occupation to mentor young engineers in Completion management.

  • Liaison with DPTI operations to ensure works are undertaken per all safeworking requirements; and

NEPEAN HIGHWAY – CONSTRUCTABILITY ASSESSMENT | PROJECT MANAGER

As part of the VicRoads requirements to achieve business case approval, Peter has been undertaking construction planning assessments, including staging, stakeholder assessment, and risk management across 11 major road intersections on this major highway, including interfacing with the existing tram route.

GOLF LINKS ROAD UPGRADE - BAXTER | SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

The VicRoads assignment required the assessment of construction staging impacts upon existing road users, community, and stakeholders for a 6km upgrade of a major road with roundabout treatments to enable B-Double access. Work included cost reviews.

HURSTBRIDGE STAGE 2 UPGRADE | SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Agonis Group| LXRP | 2016 - 2017

The Project consists of major bridgeworks, track duplication, grade separations, new stations, stabling facilities, and complex brownfield rationalisation on one of Melbourne’s busiest operating rail lines. Peter has successfully provided project management, providing construction planning advice that has influenced reference designs and de-risked the procurement of the works.

WEST GATE TUNNEL PROJECT | SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Agonis Group| John Holland/CPB JV | 2016 – 2017

On assignment to the John Holland/CPB JV for rail interface management for the West Gate Tunnel Project during the successful bid phase. Peter managed the rail interfaces associated with this complex and major infrastructure project in the early contract signing and mobilisation phases.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of numerous tenders within Australia and internationally focuses on establishing scope and control between construction, maintenance and train operations. On the Rail Transformation Consortia Project (now Cranbourne to Dandenong), Peter established the scope delineation between construction and MTM maintenance obligations to produce and validate project scope and interface control;
  • As a secondment to Leighton Contracting Qatar, Peter was responsible for design management of the track system and track alignment; construction methodology; civil and building design of the depot, trackside substations and tram stops; associated with the “People Mover Project”;
  • As a Senior Rail Engineer, Peter was pivotal to the success of several high-profile international projects: the $7B Melbourne Rail Franchise and the lowering of tracks at Perth Station;
  • Project Manager on the $1.6B South Improvement Alliance responsible for a 400km section of the Melbourne to Sydney corridor involving ballast restoration, concrete re-sleepering, re-railing, and new turnout installations within a brownfield rail environment – within budget and without unplanned train disruption; and
  • He successfully managed the construction of a 4.8km rail loop for BHP for the Orebody Project at Newman, WA, comprising earthworks and trackwork within a tight 6-week programme.
