About

Saudah’s skill in coordinating construction and managing complex interfaces – combined with her ability to remain calm and level-headed even in extreme environments – is reflected in her regularly being handed works on the critical path, including on her current role as a Project Engineer on the Western Program Alliance’s Webb Street Level Crossing Removal.

Part of Saudah’s success comes from proactively developing the detailed staging plans needed to understand every element of her task, and then leveraging this understanding to benefit the overall project. In Saudah’s current role she is responsible for planning and executing the delivery of a Retained Earth Structure following this successful achievement she was tasked with delivering the Roads and Pavement package. This included the delivery of Webb Street Road upgrade and the construction of 680 carparks in the Narre Warren precinct where she lead and coordinated a team of 4 engineers. Saudah successfully managed the package under a self-perform arrangement coordinating bulk earth works, lime stabilisation, drainage construction, pavement construction, kerb and channel, asphalting, shared user path construction, construction of two DDA compliant PTV Bus bays and installation of road furniture across the Webb Street Project. Saudah’s role included procurement, programming, on site coordination and cost forecasting. Her experience to execute plan and agility to problem solve has lead to the successful completion of Webb Street upgrade within program and cost forecast. The Webb street upgrade success was a result of no safety and environmental incidents.

Western Program Alliance – Cranbourne Line Upgrade | McConnell Dowell
April 2020 – Sept 2022 Alliance $680m

Project Engineer l FSC Group

The Cranbourne Line Upgrade is duplicating the rail line between Dandenong and Lynbrook, and removing the Greens Rd level crossing and rail duplication in Dandenong South.

Saudah has been responsible for relocating overhead structures and boom gates for the Cranbourne Rail Upgrade, as well as civil works such as constructing a derailment kerb under Western Port Hwy and track formation along the upgraded line. She plans upcoming works, monitors progress and maintains a 4 week ‘look-ahead’ on future activities. Other elements of her role include producing construction procedures, holding construction risk assessment workshops, and ensuring safe work method statements, inspection test plans and work-packs are finalised and approved.

Saudah oversaw a $200,000 package of works to install three sets of boom gates, including foundations, cable connections and conduits. The role required coordinating multiple disciplines and working with stakeholders such as VicRoads, MTM, Multinet, South East Water and VicTrack. When the initial design was found not on comply with signalling standards, Saudah thought on her feet, adapting the design to meet standards while construction proceeded unimpeded. Despite numerous
challenges, the project was completed on time and budget.

Saudah is currently leading two Site Engineers to complete around $9m of civil works, including a maintenance access track, 1.6km of track formation, drainage crossings and a Combined Services Route. She also remains heavily involved in planning rail occupations, including preparing staging
diagrams, applying for permits, forecasting occupation costs, planning logistics, booking resources, engaging subcontractors and preparing occupation programs. To date, occupation works have been completed on budget and earlier than programmed. Saudah had been given the scope to plan, forecast and programme the delivery of the Camms Road Civil works which includes $6m civil package of works. Camms Road civil works includes coordinating interfacings between three alliances such as SEPA, MARPA and WPA. Camms road Minor civil upgrade included Rail works; 400 lineal meters of track formation rebuilt with lime-stabilisation, 1.0km
of dual carrier track drainage, ballast installation and installation and commissioning of the mechanical pedestrian gates. Road works; Asphalt, line marking, signage, kerb and channel, SUP and Footpaths and steel replacement of an asbestos containing watermain all works within the Camms Road scope was completed withing the CLU major Commissioning occupation Event 13. As well as normal duties Saudah has been tasked with undertaking numerous Utilities relocation which include AusNet, EDL,
SEW and Telstra stallholders. The utility scope includes design developments, approvals and project management.

Toorak Rd Level Crossing Removal Project | Carey Civil Contractors/ Laing O’Rourke
Jan 2020 – Apr 2020 Design & Construct $89m

Site Engineer l FSC Group

A rail bridge to remove the congested level crossing at Toorak Rd, Glen Waverly, including 900m of
new track, overhead wiring and signals.

Saudah managed the installation of precast L-panels for a retaining wall. She was accountable for all aspects of the work, including productivity tracking, reporting, budget and schedule. Other aspects of her role included sourcing plant, materials and equipment, coordinating works with other teams, and completing inspection test reports. Using cranes to install the precast panels before backfilling the retaining walls, Saudah completed the project within the required timeframe, contributing to the overall project being completed 6 months ahead of schedule.

West Gate Tunnel Project I CPB Contractors and John Holland
Feb 2019 – Sep 2019 Design & Construct $6.8b

Precast Engineer l FSC Group

Widening the West Gate Freeway from 8 to 12 lanes, 6.8km of tunnelling, a bridge over the Maribyrnong River, and 14km of new and improved cycling and walking paths.

One of Saudah’s most important tasks as Precast Engineer was quantifying the multibillion-dollar project’s precast demands and assisting to design a precast facility capable of producing enough elements. The role saw her develop precast building layout design concepts, document pre-stress precast casting methodology, and help set up the project’s precast yard in Benalla. She also coordinated with the international manufacturer of the precast moulds and the steel fabricator of the stressing beds, as well as procuring and establishing the pre-stress curing system.

Saudah’s design management was vital in ensuring the precast for the project’s 90 different structures was as uniform as possible, including the precast required for smoke ducts, road deck, bridge planks and super-Ts. Her work in standardising designs minimised the number of moulds and void formers required, reducing the overall footprint of the facility.
